Our Story is Your Story
We have planted a very special seed here in Teignmouth with The Folk Preservation Society. It is a safe and welcoming space, that extends far beyond our shop. Our presence and persistence is drawing in all sorts of folk and giving them the chance to explore what it means to be folk today.
Our reach is local, national and global with new folk finding us every day. In the six months we have been open we have signed up 76 members, gathered 2500 online followers, welcomed well over two thousand visitors through the door and chatted to hundreds of people.
We are launching this Crowdfunder in recognition that what we are doing needs to be sustained. We are building a community around us who are slowly yet surely finding themselves and we are determined to feed the very root and core of that emergence. The money we raise here will be used to keep our door open for the next six months - that means rent, bills, and running costs. Nothing more, nothing less. We are a social enterprise, so you can be sure that every penny received will be used to sustain the cause.
Our Crowdfunder is based on bringing people in as members of the society. We want you to have a sense of ownership over what The Folk Preservation Society is becoming. We have given a range of options to make this affordable - but we are aware that there will always be people who cannot find this money. If that is you, please get in touch. We have a bursary fund and have already gifted 13 people a membership through it.
We are living in fractured times and it is more vital than ever to find where we can meet and come together as common folk. The Folk Preservation Society recognises that we are all folk, seeking the preservation of our ways, from root to seed. Our home is your home and you are welcome here #whoeverthefolkyouare.

Our Membership
By becoming a member of The Folk Preservation Society, you are agreeing to the following:
The Folk Preservation Society recognises that we are all folk, seeking the preservation of our ways, from root to seed. We are connected through being in society and our home is your home. Wherever you are from, wherever you are going, you will be welcome here.
Our physical base is in Teignmouth, Devon which winds its way back to the deepest point on Dartmoor, at the Teignhead. Over time, we will travel to where we are invited and hold our reach far and wide.
We are a society of common folk, coming together to carry forward the past into our present day world. We will embrace both modern and ancient ways to ensure that all those who are seeking us, find us.
