FRIENDS OF HOUGHTON CONQUEST LOWER SCHOOL

The primary focus for the charity is to deliver fun and family friendly fundraising events, which generate revenue to be solely utilised to benefit the children in their ongoing learning and personal development. We work closely with the school to target support where it can be effective and make a difference. Some of our previous fundraising events have included:

  • Christmas Fayre & Market
  • Christmas card design
  • World Book Day events
  • School Discos
  • Movie Night
  • Bake Sale
  • Mother’s and Father’s Day gift making
  • Easter Egg Hunt
  • Harvest Festival boxes for the local community

Through the dedicated efforts of the Friends charity, we have managed to raise funds to deliver several large-scale projects over the years, spending over £23,000 in the past 5 years alone. These projects have included:

  • A wooden pirate ship for the playground
  • iPads for each class and Pre-School
  • A new pond and welly rack in the Lower School
  • A sunshade and chalkboard wall in Pre-School
  • In school workshops
  • The annual Christmas panto
  • Whole school Food and Farming trips
  • Support with resource for the Forest School
  • A suite of Chrome pads
  • Playground games
  • Bespoke playground benches
  • Contributed resources to the replacement of the schools reading scheme and also at preschool

All parents across the whole school are welcome to apply to join our committee and to attend our monthly meetings, which will be advertised on the Friends noticeboards on the school driveway.

As you can imagine, the work we do is invaluable to the school and indeed, our children.  Because of this we always need volunteers to assist us with, or lead, our various activities. If you can dedicate a small amount of time and are interested in helping in any way, please speak to a committee member or email the team direct on [email protected].
