Living in Nigeria, we’ve seen firsthand the environmental devastation and climate impact caused by the oil and gas industry—what many call our “black gold.” While oil has fueled economic growth, it has also left a heavy toll on our environment, particularly through gas flaring, one of the most wasteful and damaging practices in the energy sector.
Motivated to make a difference, I teamed up with a group of data engineers and energy expert Ron Verraneault to explore innovative ways to reduce emissions in Nigeria. Gas flaring quickly emerged as a key challenge, contributing heavily to environmental degradation and wasted economic potential.
