Blimey - I’ve just looked at how expensive seed is…! Well only get one crack at this, so let’s make it a good one..!
Also - we may have to purchase a Cultivation licence from Bucks Council and then I can look at safety guidance with Chiltern Rangers:
what ever we collect - I’ll make sure it’s spent wisely and carefully. Thank you again…!
Hello & thank you for clicking on our project!
Please help us purchase Native Wild Flower Seed. Read on...
In 2018 the FlackWild Heath project started converting unloved grass verges of Flackwell Heath into beautiful mini-meadows to support wildlife and produce picture perfect swathes of beautiful wild flowers. (All privately funded by local participants.)
In 2025 we joined up with Chiltern Rangers, Flackwell Heath Residents Association, Chepping Wycombe Parish Council & Buckinghamshire Council to run a pilot project on a larger scale by creating a bigger meadow surrounded by native heading, bat boxes & bird boxes.
How can you help?
Native Wild flower seed is expensive..! I'm asking for your help to purchase enough seed for a roadside project which is probably half a mile long. I've wanted to do this work for a long time, but the effort to prepare the ground has been prohibitive. So what's changed?
Local roadworks along the length of White Pit Lane between Flackwell Heath and Wooburn Green have churned up the existing rough ground and completed the preparation work for free..!
All we need to do is purchase the seed and sow it.
The plan is to sow in the next few weeks so that we see a beautiful display this year!
There will be Cornfiled Annuals by the summer and then Perennials which will flower from 2026 onwards.
A very rough estimate suggest we'll need £200 - £500.
Imagine driving or walking down White Pit Lane this summer, seeing the lovely flowers and being able to say "...I did that..!" ;-)
Go on. We'd love you to be part of it..!
Thank you...!
