Premise:

When two best friends are taking a casual walk and one of them crushes a tiny finch underfoot, the weight of guilt sends him spiralling into a confrontation with his own decision-making in life.

Sypnosis:

A short, coming-of-age dramedy about Jeremy and Adam, two friends on a casual stroll, lost in conversation until an unnoticed step changes everything.

Jeremy, whilst wrecked with guilt and reflection after stepping on a tiny bird, Adam insists it was already dead. Plunged into self-doubt, guilt, and regret, Jeremy fixates on the idea that he could have avoided it but didn't.

The question of responsibility then takes a surreal turn.

Genre/Style:

Coming-of-age dramedy with an expertimental 2D-illustrated element (similar in illustration to the short film, IRIS)

Themes:

  • Guilt and Social Responsibility:
    • The film explores how actions, no matter how small, can have such an overwhelming significance and impact on not only our moral compass but responsibility. If you stepped on a bird, would you insist it was already dead?
  • Coping with Mistakes:
    • The contrast between the two best friends - Jeremy's emotional turmoil and Adam's indifference - highlights the different ways people cope with mistakes and

About us:

We are a production team consisting entirely of ambitious just as motivated students, wanting to shed light on societal issues within this ever-changing landscape.

Why crowdfund?

For a simple enough premise, we cannot compromise on quality and ambition, which is where you come in - yes, you!

Finches, with enough funding, will allow us to not only incorporate our intended 2D element in the final film but also offer aid in securing location, covering production and post-production costs, and of course, getting the film to wider audiences: festivals.

Whether you have only £1, £10, or £100, any donation is greatly appreciated and guaranteed to aid production. Whether it's providing money for tape, batteries, or even feeding cast and crew, your donation will have a direct impact on making our vision a reality!

Nothing is too little, even if it is finch-sized (mind the pun!)

What you'll get!

Apart from the wonderful feeling of being part of something bigger than yourself (and a film at that!), we have a wide selection of rewards to choose from as a thank you for supporting us to make our film a reality.
