We're still collecting donations
On the 7th November 2023 we'd raised £1,815 with 45 supporters in 56 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
I aim to raise funds for the last 8% of my higher education costs, funding the final year of my PhD in Community Energy Projects.

UK higher education isn't the cheapest. However, I managed to cover 70% of the costs (MSc and PhD) through competitive merit scholarships. I covered 22% through work. However, due to visa restrictions, I am not eligible for any loans, and I am only allowed to work 20 hours per week.
I was partially funded to do my PhD at Oxford Brookes University, and I have been working nearly the maximum allowed number of hours to cover the shortfall. However, my partial PhD funding has finished and simply working the maximum number of hours as an international student is not sufficient. Furthermore, the more I work, the less time I have for my PhD, and the longer it will take! I am getting stuck in a limbo!
I was delayed due to Covid_19, the earthquake backhoe in Syria and other personal circumstances.
In my PhD I am looking into Community Energy projects in the UK (locally owned, collective, renewable energy projects) and their social value for the community.
I am seeking to cover part of the costs for my final stage, including accommodation (£8.2k), a 1-year visa (£1.4K), and laptop repairs. While I aim to raise the full amount, all contributions are much appreciated, as every £20 will provide me with around one free hour to write!
I have searched and applied for other sources of funding, however, I am not eligible for any of them for various reasons (visa, gender, topic, year, etc). If you have any suggestions for an open alternative funding, for international students in the final year of their PhD in Energy and Social Sciences please let me know!

Rewards!
As a thank you, I have added some MadeInSyria rewards. They are items that I usually give as gifts, send out, or just buy for myself:
Arab perfume, small mosaic pieces, small oriental rugs, (and Baklava!) In addition to Scholarship workshops and Community Energy sessions. Please choose your reward!
- Note 1: Coasters, Oxford, and Syria postcards, and thank you letters can be sent anywhere. Digital rewards can be claimed by any supporter too regardless of their location.
- Note 2: I am afraid I can send the larger physical rewards only within the UK.
- Note 3: Crowdfunder will provide me with the details of the supporters AFTER the project has finished, I aim to send all rewards within 2 weeks after the end of the campaign by the end of November.
