We're still collecting donations

On the 5th January 2021 we'd raised £300 with 3 supporters in 62 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.

We aim to shoot a film adaptation of Mozart’s Don Giovanni at Hedsor House in January 2021 and to create a COVID safe bubble during the shoot. English translation written and directed by Daniel Slater. Conducted by Natalie Murray Beale.

This project was born out of the need to show ourselves and others that opera can be created during this crisis. We aim to make a film that will engage a broad audience; both opera lovers and opera newbies alike.

We are working hard to reach out to as many people as possible to find a diverse and gender equal cast and crew. Breaking down barriers and  prejudices within the workplace and to inspire others to engage with opera.

Opera Box was formed by Emma Ventris, former opera singer and now choir director and founder of the David Game music department; Daniel Slater, international opera directorand Howard Charles, former opera singer and CEO of City Music Services.

Through partnerships and collaborations we are able to make this production on a tiny budget. However we still need £13000 in order to make it happen. The money raised will go to paying the cast and crew. Individual sponsorships can be arranged for specific job descriptions.

When the film has been produced we aim to stream the film in a new and up to date way: by creating episodes of the film and showing “behind the scenes” footage to show how singers, musicians and crew work. Discussions are taking place with various channels as I write.

We are in talks with Barnardos to create workshops; reaching out with the film to as many people as possible. Bringing opera to those who have never thought of listening to opera and hoping to bring them some level of happiness, whether that be in realising that opera is
