Volunteer groups, (including Wincanton Sports Ground) continue to help tackle a number of ongoing problems faced in our communities. That's where we all come in with this new initiative to support our local groups and teams.
Fifty For February allows for anyone to start or continue being active with a steady walking, jogging, running or cycling routine in the month of February with the target to cover 50 miles - or much more if you can manage it.
28 days in February = 1.79 miles per day on average
The idea is to get people of all ages active - and hopefully support their physical and mental wellbeing during these continued challenging times.
Be positive, be active, be kind.......
The aim is for as many people as possible to be involved and encourage sponsorship of this campaign as the funds raised will be used to support local teams, sports, projects and communty groups when they are able to return safely. The majority have not been able to collect fees, subs or income of any kind for sometime and could be at risk of falling away from our communities without support or intervention.
Thousands of people locally have been missing out on opportunites to go and partake in what they enjoy doing, and in many cases love to do.
As a community, lets be ready for when the moment of return arrives for us all - whether it be youth football, dance, indoor bowls, tiddlywinks, arts / crafts, tennis, rugby, knit and natter, judo, basketball, quiz nights, bingo, support groups .........
