Supporting pupil wellbeing at Feniton Primary School
Feniton Primary School is stepping up to the challenge which Covid-19 has brought to both the children and the local community. We hope that focusing on outdoor activities to enhance pupil wellbeing will support the children in maintaining good mental health. Feniton Primary School PTA has funded the initial set up of the Forest School. Donations from parents and funding from the Locality Budget have enabled us to cover costs to date.
Who will benefit?
There are just over 250 children attending Feniton Primary School from the Foundation Unit (age 3-4) up to Year 6 (age 10-11). Forest School is incredibly popular with the children in Year 3 who have been able to have classes each week and we would like to make it available to other year groups. This is where Rocketfund / Crowdfunding comes in and we hope that you're able to support us.
What is the money going to be used for?
Our biggest initial investment will be in training a member of staff as a Forest School Leader to help with delivering the forest school sessions. This costs £1200 per staff member trained. Additionally, we would like to buy a welly store, wood store and a mud kitchen for the forest school area. We also need to consider how we would make the area weatherproof so that the children aren't restricted in their activities when the weather is poor. The costs to run the forest school will be ongoing and is something which the PTA are keen to support.
How much do you need?
We've set our initial fundraising target as £5000. This will cover the training and staffing costs for each year group of children (from Reception to Year 6) to attend our Forest School for one half-term (6 weeks). In addition to the ongoing running costs, we also need to fund equipment.
We value the contribution of parents, families and our local community and therefore are keen to offer some rewards to our supporters. We would like to offer a reward some seeds (wildflower or sunflower) to those who donate £20 or more to support our Forest School. Please make sure to click the 'Reward' link below so that we can capture your address for seed delivery. If you're able to donate £50, then please select the 'Reward' below and we can offer a personalised 'Thank You' card from our school pupils. £80 would pay for a session of Forest School for one class; £100 would pay for 6 children to attend Forest School for 6 weeks. £1200 will pay for a member of staff to attend a training course to become a Forest School Leader.
