I found Luca in the carpark, breathing erratic and little sign of life. We don't know what had happened, something traumatic, hit by a car, an illness maybe? We just didn't know. After a night at the emergency vet with our beloved Luca in an oxygen tent we were told he had fluid on his lungs and they didn't know what was causing it, could be viral, could be cardiac in nature. The treatment was to keep him on life long loop diuretic called Furosemide. Long term this will likely damage his kidneys. Luca is in his prime and has never showed any signs of illness or cardiac problems but without a cardiac echo scan we will never know the real cause. Luca and his brother Massimo are everything to our family and it hurts deeply not being able to afford this scan for him. He deserves so much better for all the love he has given us. Unfortunately we were naive in not having insurance in place before this happened so the scan cannot be covered on this.
