The global COVID-19 pandemic has seen many businesses, like our Florists, having to close the retail store under government guideline to reduce the spread of the virus.
As we also have our own laser equipment for personalised gifts we thought we would put it to use instead of sitting idle an help our emergency services. Many people on the front line are wearing the face masks for around 12/13 hrs a day which makes the back of the ears sore and at times creates open wounds (which can be an entry point for the virus).
We created these mask clips which allow the elastic from the mask to be placed in the clip so it sits around the head of the user rather than around the ears which eliminates rubbing around the ears.
20 of these on one ward can help 40 members of staff! as they are acrylic they can be sanitised in seconds rather than washing like some of the fabric bands.
We have produced around 500 of these at our cost, but as our retail shop is closed buying extra materials is becoming difficult with limited funds as we are only a small independent family ran florists.
After various amazing customers offering to donate funds in order to produce more clips we have decided to turn to crowdfunding to allow us to purchase more materials.
We have changed the design slightly to allow more clips per sheet meaning we can do 91 clips per A3 sheet
Money will be used to buy more materials for clips and test full face mask designs.
