Recipe for Success!

Aim: Seeking funds to refurb our kitchen to equip people with learning disabilities the skills they require to find & gain sustainable employment

We are a non-profit social enterprise who run a programme of on-the-job training for people with additional challenges in life, such as a learning disability or a  mental health problem to provide them with the support and confidence to seek paid employment. We also provide paid employment opportunities to these delegates if the opportunity arises.

Currently we focus on Front of House skills however we would like to expand our training programme to include training in a professional kitchen environment. At the moment our kitchen is not set up to support this dream and we are desperately in need of a refurb

How will the new kitchen help our social mission?

• Designated sections eg, prep, desserts and the pass will allow participants to gradually progress through the kitchen, teaching a broad range of skills that can be transferable to other jobs
•  A spacious 'prepping' station will mean a participant can work alongside a job coach or chef at all times, ensuring they are learning correct techniques and maximising their time with us
• The new configuration will allow the 'kitchen porter' area to be sectioned off from the kitchen. This will means that with the assistance of our job coach, we can focus on training participants specifically in this field. There is currently a real lack of kitchen porters looking for work in London. With our training programme we believe we can help this issue by finding our participants sustainable and paid work in this sector, giving our participants a sense of purpose and confidence.

The Big Issue support fund has generously given the green light to fund almost half of this refurb. However in order to maximise the community work we do we are seeking to raise an additonal £27,000 to compete the full project. Thank you in advance for your support
