Providing essential tools and emotional support resources for neurodiverse children who would otherwise go without.

by BrightPaths Support CIC in Bedford, , United Kingdom

Help us Support Vulnerable Children and Transform Lives.

Every child deserves a bright future – you can help make that happen!

Right now, 1 in 6 children in the UK struggles with a mental health condition (NHS Digital, 2023). Many receive no support due to overwhelmed services, long waiting lists, and funding shortages, leaving neurodivergent children and those with emerging mental health challenges particularly vulnerable.

At BrightPaths, we step in where others can't. We provide mentoring, early intervention, and emotional well-being support to neurodivergent and vulnerable children, helping them build confidence, manage emotions, and thrive in school.

The Project: Essential Tools for Neurodiverse Students

Through our work in schools, we often uncover the daily sensory and emotional challenges faced by children with ADHD and autism—overstimulation, anxiety, and difficulty concentrating. Simple tools like fidget toys, noise-canceling earbuds, and guided workbooks can make a huge difference, but not all families or schools can afford them.

We want to build a stock of these essential resources to provide them for free to children who need them most. Your donations will ensure that no child goes without the tools they need to feel safe, focused, and supported.

Meet Ava: A Year 10 Student Who Just Needed the Right Support

Ava hates school. She avoids lessons whenever she can and comes home every day exhausted, shutting herself in her room just to recover from the overwhelming noise and stress of the school environment. But despite struggling daily, she never misses her mentoring sessions. Every week, she turns up with a bright smile, ready to engage.

Through mentoring, Ava has opened up about her struggles and applied every strategy and piece of advice given to her. She even keeps a mood diary—something nearly impossible for a girl with ADHD! This diary helped us uncover a crucial need: Ava feels more regulated when she has firm, squeezable fidget toys.

A standard fidget wasn't enough, so her mentor carefully selected one that truly matched her sensory needs.

💛 This small, inexpensive gift was something nobody had ever done for her.
💛 It has already made an enormous difference.
💛 She keeps it at school and uses it daily—not just to calm herself, but as a reminder that someone cared enough to listen.

But the biggest challenge we uncovered? Noise. Loud classrooms and corridors leave Ava feeling completely overwhelmed, anxious, and drained. She desperately needs noise reduction, but she refuses to wear bulky ear defenders because she doesn't want to stand out. As she put it," Everybody knows the kids with ear defenders are different."

If Ava's family had more financial flexibility, they might be able to buy her discreet Loop Quiet 2 Ear Plugs, which would help her manage noise without affecting her confidence. But as a pupil premium student, this isn't an option. The school cannot easily provide these either, not without EHCP reviews, paperwork, and long waits.

This Is Where You Can Help

We want to ensure that no child is left behind due to bureaucracy, funding gaps, or circumstances beyond their control. If a simple, well-matched fidget toy, workbook, or pair of noise-reducing earbuds can transform a child's school experience, we want to provide it instantly, without barriers.

Your donation will go directly toward providing these vital resources:

💛 £5 = Fidget toys to help children self-regulate and reduce anxiety.
💛 £15 = A CBT-based guided workbook to complement mentoring sessions.
💛 £30 = Loop Quiet 2 Ear Plugs – Ultra-comfy, reusable noise-reducing earplugs.
