Firstly a MASSIVE thank you to all the people who raised money for my first ever 10k run!!! We went over the set target and made £420. Hopefully that money will be spent by the end of 2022 and a young person will enjoy an amazing live theatre experience. I will be posting a photo and blog of the young persons day out so you can see where the money has gone. In the meantime, lets go again!
PART 2. Half Marathon.
I will never forget sitting in the dark theatre for the first time as a child, waiting for the show to begin. Something in my DNA seemed to change forever.
If like me you were born into a working class environment or school system where the arts are not prioritised or perhaps you are the family of a child or young adult with special educational needs and can never find the money or time to get out and see something.
On the 18th of December 2022 I will run my first ever public Half Marathon in Victoria Park. I will be raising awareness and money for 'Every child deserves the arts' my promise to help those unable to easily access the arts (due to time, money, knowledge, disability...) see and experience art for perhaps the first time.
Every long distance run a subsequent crowd funding from you will enable the 'child' and guardian the best seats in the house, something to eat and their travel to and from the event. Theatre, Opera, Ballet, Music, Poetry any thing we can think of.
I do hope this is the start of many long runs for me and many more thrilling theatre and live experiences for people who through circumstance may never have come face to face with the arts.
Let's get it.
**I have links to SEN education so the young adults will initially be chosen from there. Anyone contributing to this cause will find out after how their money was spent.
