Raising funds to buy PPE, ventilators, and other equipment needed by Ethiopian hospitals to treat COVID-19 patients

by Combley Family in Horfield, England, United Kingdom

We are part of the Ethiopian community in the South West of England. We are raising funds to buy equipment needed in Ethiopian hospitals to enable them to treat COVID-19 patients.

Ethiopia has far less hospital beds per head of population than a country like the UK. We've heard from Ethiopian doctors that there is a real shortage of equipment like mechanical ventilators, with only 450 ventilators for a population of 115 million.

We know how hard our families in Ethiopia are working to contain the spread of COVID-19, but it is still likely to go far beyond the capacity of the country’s hospitals. So we are trying to raise funds to do our part to help.

We will be working with the Ethiopian Embassy in London to purchase equipment and transport it to Ethiopia, to make sure help gets to where it is needed with as little waste as possible.

Please get in touch with us, or with the Embassy on [email protected] if you wish to donate materials directly - the Embassy can accept them and organise transport to Ethiopia.
