Hi all,
Thank you so much for all of your donations so far! I have postponed the walk until the following Saturday. This weekend coincides with events in Blackpool, which means the front is closed. And I don't feel as though I've done justice to my fundraising efforts the last few weeks due to personal commitments.l, and feel I can raise much more over the coming week to do justice to the cause. Many thanks, I will be posting my progress on my socials on the day. ????
Did you know that around 1 in 100 people are affected by epilepsy? Epilepsy is a serious neurological condition that can affect anyone, at any age and from any walk of life. Around 87 people are diagnosed ever day.
I was diagnosed in December.
Because of this, I lost my driving license, sense of freedom, and security. I live alone, and the uncertainty of when I may have a seizure, or if I will be safe when I do is always there in the background. The after effects of a seizure can leave a person feeling sore, exhausted, embarrassed and unable to focus. Not to mention any injuries sustained during a seizure.
So many people in the UK receive an epilepsy diagnosis month on month, however there is very little information around causes and triggers.
Amazing charities such as "Epilepsy Action" "Epilepsy Society" and "Young Epilepsy" are there to offer advice, guidance and support, however are underfunded.
So to raise money for this I will be walking just short of 30km from my home in Lancashire to the Blackpool coast, for a bit of that fresh sea air on Sat 21st Aug.
Al sponsorship will be donated to Epilepsy Action so help continue the research and support for people living with this wildly common, yet greatly unknown condition.
