EPIC WALK
Total distance = 1,815 miles
Paul (Frodo) Crabtree is currently walking the distance of the fictional journey (undertaken by Frodo Baggins) from The Shires to Mount Doom in Mordor, in order to raise money for the ‘Umbrellas - Lincoln’ charity. The Epic Walk will be done in 5 legs, covering between 5 to 8 miles a day, accompanied by his faithful companion ‘Georgie Blacklab’.
This Challenge is being done in conjunction with ‘The Conqueror Virtual Challenges’, which will enable distances to be tracked and logged on a virtual map.
Leg 1–The Shire – 145 miles - Following Frodo and Sam’s path though The Shire.
Leg 2–The Fellowship – 680 miles - From ‘The Prancing Pony’ Inn to The Doors of Durin.
Leg 3–Mines of Moria – 40 miles - To the Dwarven city and mines.
Leg 4–The Eye of Sauron – 668 miles – Now being led by Gollum towards Mordor.
Leg 5–Mordor – 282 miles – Through Mordor to Mount Doom to destroy the ring.
As an added bonus, Conqueror Virtual Challenges will plant 25 trees (through The Eden Project) as a result of the successful completion of this Epic Walk.
Here’s where you come in
‘Umbrellas’ was established in June 2014 with the aim of providing a leisure and recreational facility for children, young people and adults with additional needs, who all deserve somewhere safe and secure to enjoy their leisure time. Many will require specialist facilities or equipment and people who understand their needs. Their families can also feel isolated as a result of the disability so they aim to provide a supportive, non-judgemental environment where siblings, parents and carers can also participate. Target
My target is £1,815, which equates to just £1 per mile. Your generosity will be greatly appreciated by both myself and ‘Umbrellas - Lincoln’.
