Why?
I have been working in higher education surrounded by fantastic educators and wanted to give them visibility. While knowledge and experience is often shared in published journals, papers, and books, there's little platform - or time - to share best practices, in a conversational tone, like in a teachers' room.
I started The Academic Room to provide this missing platform, and make sure best practices are shared on engaging students, inclusive classroom, mental health, wellbeing, digital pedagogy and several others. This accumulated knowledge can enhance the academic experience and provide better quality education.
How?
We have recorded 20 interviews with deans, professors, lecturers, vice-chancellors, researchers from various universities and organisations (and have a very strong lineup of authors and influencers.) These YouTube videos have had 3,644 views.
We have a LinkedIn page, followed by almost 300 higher education professionals.
The lineup for the next season includes Professor Damien Page - Vice-Chancellor of Buckinghamshire New University, Professor Matt O'Leary - Author of Classroom Observation, Emeritus Professor Mike Sharples - Author of Practical Pedagogy
Donations
To go on, we need donations for the next season (10 episodes) to
- edit the videos in high-quality
- promote the videos on YouTube and LinkedIn to increase visibility
If you have a product or service and would like to be in front of higher education decision-makers, check out our rewards: we feature your company in the videos and on LinkedIn, or record a thought leadership interview with your company.
You can not only reach the viewers of the interviews, but can use it in direct pitches as valuable content and mission you contributed to.
