After giving up work in Aug 2023 because of health problems, my Partner, Jan was shocked in January 2024 to suddenly find herself in total agony all the time, not being able to walk, her toes going black and blistered, and no circulation in her legs.
All of this is aggravated by her other health conditions including Osteoarthritis, COPD and Fibromyalgia.
In January she had a fall and badly injured her left shoulder making walking with a rollator even more difficult because of the constant pain in her back and now with her shoulder. She has had a cortisone injection but it did not help the pain at all.
In February she had another fall and I took her to the A&E at the Leicester Royal Infirmary where she was diagnosed with Spinal Stenosis. The waiting list for this operation is around 12 months!
We are now in August 2024 and she has been in severe pain and housebound since January 2023, had numerous scans, is slowly losing the ability to use the rollator because of her shoulder pain, and is seriously depressed at the thought of having nothing to do but look out of the window for another 12 months.
To avoid Spinal Stenosis leading to permanent disability an operation is required as soon as possible but the NHS waiting list is 12 months.
