💜 EmpowerHer Period Bank: Restoring Dignity, One Kit at a Time
💬 Our Mission
No one should suffer in silence because of menstruation.
Yet across Glasgow and other parts of Scotland, too many people—especially young girls, asylum seekers, and low-income women—face period poverty every month. De La Colina C.I.C. is here to change that.
We are creating a free, accessible source of menstrual products, education, and support. It's more than giving out pads. It's about empowerment, dignity, and inclusion.
📦 What We’re Doing
Our EmpowerHer initiative is:
- 🔁 Building a Period Bank: A central hub for product distribution and support.
- 🧡 Providing Free Menstrual Kits to schools, refugee centres, shelters, and community organisations.
- 📚 Creating Menstrual Education Materials: Easy-to-understand, culturally inclusive information for all ages.
- 💬 Delivering Workshops & Support Groups to break stigma and promote mental well-being.
📊 Why It Matters
- 1 in 4 women in the UK aged 14–21 struggles to afford period products.
- In Glasgow, over 26% of children live in poverty—this directly impacts girls' access to menstrual care.
- Period poverty affects school attendance, mental health, and dignity.
