Hello, I'm Judith Linda Amito, an Industrial and Organizational Psychologist and a passionate advocate for the education and empowerment of girls in Northern Uganda. I'm reaching out to you today with a project that aims to transform the lives of young girls in our community and break the cycle of poverty and inequality.

Our Story:

As a Pioneer member of the Butterfly Project and the founder of the Girls Hub Project, I have witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by girls in the Acholi Quarters and small villages of Northern Uganda. During my training as a change maker with Chrysalis Youth Empowerment Network under the Butterfly Project, I began working with displaced girls, providing them with essential skills, reading opportunities, and a glimmer of hope.

Over the years, I've seen the need for a more comprehensive approach. Many girls miss school during their periods due to a lack of sanitary pads, and some can't even wash their uniforms because they can't afford soap or even basic school requirements like pens, books and bags. Hunger is a daily struggle for many, and the dream of continuing their education seems out of reach. Parents often prioritize other responsibilities over their daughters' education.

Our Vision:

The Girls Hub Project envisions a brighter future for these girls. We have planned a trans formative three-day workshop to address these pressing issues. We aim to empower 100 girls from eight different schools in the Sub-county, including 20 who have dropped out, with the following activities:

Sanitary Pad Production: We'll teach the girls to make reusable sanitary pads, ensuring they can attend school with confidence every day.

Soap Making: Girls will learn to make soap, providing a solution to washing their uniforms and improving hygiene.

Sustainable Farming: We'll introduce kitchen and balcony gardening to combat hunger and empower girls to generate income by selling produce.

Digital Literacy: Most have never had access to computers. We'll introduce them to technology, opening doors to education and networking opportunities.

Reading and Spelling Clubs: Fostering a love for reading and improving educational outcomes.

Inspiration from Female Leaders: We'll bring in influential women to inspire and motivate these girls to finish school.
