TO PROMOTE THE BENEFIT OF THE INHABITANTS OF NORTHAMPTON EAST AND THE SURROUNDING AREA, IN PARTICULAR, BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY, THOSE WHO ARE ECONOMICALLY OR SOCIALLY DISADVANTAGED, CHILDREN, THE ELDERLY AND THE DISABLED, BY PROVIDING FACILITIES IN THE INTERESTS OF SOCIAL WELFARE, FOR RECREATION AND LEISURE TIME OCCUPATION WITH THE OBJECT OF IMPROVING THE CONDITIONS OF LIFE FOR THE SAID INHABITANTS.

EMMANUEL COFFEE SHOP LIMITED

Our purpose is to provide a welcoming space for all, especially disadvantaged people as we’re in a poor area, where people can access free ongoing support services and advice. Over 50% of the population are classified within the lower quartile of national deprivation.  One large estate, Blackthorn, is in the lowest 1% in the country, and in the worst 0.5% for child poverty.

The food is home cooked, nutritious and affordable with no obligation to buy more than a hot drink and sit and chat all day. Our manager has the discretion to offer free food and drinks.

We are open from 10am to 2pm, Monday to Friday. We serve approx. 30 to 50 covers per day.

We are delighted to have a Community Support Worker who recently set up a Memory wall; she provided free support to people who shared stories about their childhood and photographs. She runs a Memory circle afternoon, that provides dementia friendly activities for people with dementia and their carers. She also runs a free Games morning on Mondays, using board games and cards to enable lonely people to build friendships with her safe supervision.

Our other recent projects:

Sunday Lunch, on average 35 covers per session.

Friday afternoon tea, with entertainment or a quiz; approx. 20 covers per session.

Both of these projects provide enjoyable afternoons out at an affordable price and enable disadvantaged and vulnerable people to engage in community and build friendships.

We have school visits so that children with special educational needs can learn life skills, learning to select from the menu, order and pay at the counter.

We are providing work placements for 4 college students.

We have 12 volunteers, some of whom are vulnerable/ have special educational needs. We help them at their own pace to complete an inhouse training course to support their learning, and some take accredited courses too to gain certificates.

We are by nature a 'warm space' where people come to keep warm and enjoy a warm welcome. Your support will help us continue to do so through the challenges of the cost-of-living crisis.
