Emley Millennium Green

Emley Millennium Green was founded in 1999, the aim was to provide an open space for activities, we the Trustees have planted and maintained the land so that the villages of Emley and surrounding districts can come, walk, contemplate, and enjoy the scenic beauty from this Green.

During the current restrictions the Green has been used as never before. We have always had good participation of persons using the Green, but the covid 19 restrictions have reduced the villagers ability to go to other areas and so the Green has become a focal point for, exercise,  contemplation and well being.  The paths around the Green that were last regraded some 3 years ago are wearing thin and need to be regraded with gravel.  The Trustees organise a working party to deliver and spread around 20 tonnes of the gravel. 

As above we really need to improve the quality of the paths around the Green, this is a safety issue. Currently grass cutting has stopped but within a couple of months we will have to start the yearly maintenance including pruning back the overgrowth, so that all the Green can be fully utilised.

We have no funding streams in place at present other than the generosity of those persons who use the Green and wish it to continue. We have had small donations made during the covid restrictions; however, our main funding streams were  Race Nights organised in the village pubs/community centres.  

We do not have any local authority funding or continous grants of any kind.
