Help Chefs in Schools to feed children nutritious meals during the pandemic
No child should go hungry because of the Coronavirus crisis. We are working with schools and other organisations to ensure nutritious meals reach children and families in greatest need.
During lock-down we delivered weekly nutritious food hampers to children on Free School Meals at home – providing a total of 320,000 meals for over 1,000 children and families.
The pandemic has exacerbated poverty for so many children and families with 14% of UK families with children experiencing food insecurity in the past 6 months (compared to 11.5% pre-Covid). We are therefore continuing to provide 150 weekly hampers for the most vulnerable families in London, as identified by their school. Requests from schools are steadily rising and we only anticipate increased demand with impending lock-downs and job losses.
£25 will fund a hamper of nutritious food, providing 20 meals for a child and their family. That's £1.25 per meal.
About Chefs in Schools
We train chefs and kitchen teams to run school kitchens with the efficiency, and passion for food, of a top restaurant. Chefs make amazing food from scratch and also teach the pupils to cook. This approach radically transforms the quality of food children eat and teaches essential life skills.
