A by-election has been triggered by one of the Labour councillors resigning from the council. She quit over Rachel Reeves’ cuts to council budgets and the devastating impact on Haringey. These are frustrations that many voters locally will share.
The local council faces a £51 million black hole. Cuts are proposed to library services, local support workers and leisure centre access. And many residents on estates continue to live in homes that are in a bad state, with no repairs on the horizon.
Greens can make a difference locally. Holding Labour accountable, raising residents’ concerns and campaigning for change. We just need your support.
Ruairidh is local and has lived in Haringey for 5 years. In his day job, he works for a grassroots campaign organising for climate and social justice. He’s standing for:
An independent voice for St Ann’s
🌳 Investment in parks and libraries
🏡 Rent Controls & banning bailiffs
🇵🇸 Divestment from the arms trade
Politics in St Ann’s is different to other places. Since 2014 it’s always been a two horse race between Labour and the Green Party. Just 112 votes separated the Labour councillor and the next best placed Green candidate last time. The Lib Dems were very far behind in third and the Conservatives didn’t even stand!
With your support we can pay for leaflets and reach voters with our winning message. We know voters in St Ann’s are ready to vote Green, they have before! They just need to hear from us, who Ruairidh is, and why they should vote Green!
Our literature will cost at least £1,000. That will help ensure voters get a weekly communication from us, with our message of environmental and social justice. Donations big and small help our grassroots team win real change here in Haringey.
Extra money will go towards things like mobilising volunteers through the campaign. Your generosity is so appreciated!
P.S. Because we're a political party
We're required to run electoral register checks from people making donations above £500, and if you donate over £1,500 during a year, we are required to let the Electoral Commission know, who will make this information available on their website. All donations go to general campaigning funds.
