As it's a biggie birthday, I thought that I would ask for something that is really meaningful to me and to bring any spotlight I may have today to raise support for my insanely awesome bestie, Grace Gillan's project, building safe accommodation for the boys at the Judy Mullins Foundation of Hope, which is located in a little village called Buchomba in central Uganda.
After smashing the campaign raising funds successfully and organising and completing the build of the bore hole. Grace and the lads at the Foundation of hope are now focused on providing safe accommodation for the children living there.
Please read below for more info and words from the project creator and Organiser Grace Gillan (penny)

Hello, my name is Grace. I am an environmental and human rights activist.
I am raising this money to provide safe accommodation for the boys at the Judy Mullins Foundation of Hope with is located in a little village called Buchomba in central Uganda. There are 50 children in total, six are living with AIDS.
A few years ago I managed to raise money to buy the existing building and plot of land for them, however it is only large enough to accommodate the 26 girls, the boys are sleeping in tents I provided for them and as a result are exposed to infection from Jiggers which is a parasite that lives in the earth and lays it's eggs in the flesh of the children. They also face the treat of snake bites, one individual has already suffered terribly.
This project will involve....
- Sourcing a builder that can provide what we require to build accommodation for the boys as the orphanage is remotely located
- Comissioning the design for the structure to fit on the land they already own.
- The transportation of materials, labourers and any machinery required to complete the build.
- Any maintenance that is required for the existing building to bring it up to standard.
- A solar system to provide consistent power
- Beds and bedding for 50 children's as they currently sleep on the floor or in tents and young growing bodies need proper comfort and rest, especially as some of them are living with HIV.
