While the interior of our building has been refurbished and made safe, the exterior rendering is deteriorating and exposing the structure to the elements. We have been advised by an energy consultant that insulation and cladding will not only make the building warmer and more eco-friendly, cladding is low maintenance so we save on future repairs and repainting.
We took over running the building in 2021 from the council but the agreement means we have to maintain the building, we have had two new roofs, a new heating system, new fire and intruder alarms and new fire exits, the building is now clean and safe for our community groups, the youth club, parent and toddlers, a disabled adult club, the local Repair café, Art groups, an outdoor forestry school and many more use the building weekly.
We are a not for profit registered charity no trustees are paid, it is all voluntary. There is nowhere else large enough to take many of our groups in the area if we were not open.
We also are open to the public from the town and surrounding villages for activities and parties, we offer very low cost room and space hire for all.
