East Berkshire Green Party Election Fundraiser

With Climate Emergencies being declared locally and across the country, most parties are still ignoring the warnings by scientists and paying nothing but lip service to the critical environmental issues we face as a species...

The Green Party is the only party that gives these environmental issues their proper significance and places them at the forefront of our political agenda... but we need your help!

Running a political party is expensive, and despite us having many dedicated members and volunteers who work for no financial gain, we still need help to raise funds to help us with the practical costs of things such as local campaigns, printing leaflets, posters, distributing newsletters and to pay the £2000 deposit needed to field four local candidates in the General Election, across our East Berkshire Seats. (Windsor, Maidenhead, Slough, and Bracknell.)
- For this £500 deposit we get the valuable opportunity for a "free" delivery of our manifesto to all electors where we can lay out the enormity of the challenge that’s facing not just East Berkshire but the United Kingdom and the rest of the world.

The Green Party doesn’t have big businesses backing us like almost all other political parties. Every campaign is funded, supported, and powered by our members and volunteers. £500 - Pays the deposit for one General Election candidate.
£450 - Could pay for 20,000 folded A4/A5 size leaflets.

£10   - Could pay for 10 "Green Party" Rosettes for our Candidates.

The Facts about Climate Change

"Billions of tons of CO2 are released into the atmosphere every year as a result of coal, oil, and gas production. Human activity is producing greenhouse gas emissions at a record high, with no signs of slowing down. According to a ten-year summary of UNEP Emission Gap reports, we are on track to maintain a “business as usual” trajectory. The last four years were the four hottest on record. According to a September 2019 World Meteorological Organization (WMO) report, we are at least one degree Celsius above preindustrial levels and close to what scientists warn would be “an unacceptable risk”. The 2015 Paris Agreement on climate change calls for holding eventual warming “well below” two degrees Celsius, and for the pursuit of efforts to limit the increase even further, to 1.5 degrees. But if we don’t slow global emissions, temperatures could rise to above three degrees Celsius by 2100, causing further irreversible damage to our ecosystems. Glaciers and ice sheets in polar and mountain regions are already melting faster than ever, causing sea levels to rise. Almost two-thirds of the world’s cities with populations of over five million are located in areas at risk of sea level rise and almost 40 per cent of the world’s population live within 100 km of a coast. If no action is taken, entire districts of New York, Shanghai, Abu Dhabi, Osaka, Rio de Janeiro, and many other cities could find themselves underwater within our lifetimes, displacing millions of people."

P.S. Because we're a political party

1. All donations will go to East Berkshire Green Party (EBGP), a local party of the Green Party of England and Wales (GPEW).
2. All donations go into the EBGP general election fighting fund to use in the next general election campaign either locally in East Berkshire or nationally, as determined by EBGP members. Any funds left over in the fund after the campaign will be retained by EBGP and used for future EBGP activities and campaigns.
3. Information about donors is collected to ensure we can properly check that each donation is from a permissible source.
4. Permissibility checks will be undertaken for donations made over £500.
5. Anonymous donations over £500 cannot be accepted.
6. It is an offence to attempt to evade the donation rules.
7. In the following cases details of donations, including the identity of the donor, will be reported to the Electoral Commission who will publish them on their website:
7.1. all permissible donations over £1,500 (over £2,230 From 1 Jan 2024), made to EBGP.
7.2. all permissible donations over £500 that add up to over £1,500 (over £2,230 From 1 Jan 2024) from the same source, in the same calendar year, made to EBGP.
7.3. all permissible donations over £500 that add up to over £7,500 (over £11,180 From 1 Jan 2024) from the same source, in the same calendar year, made to GPEW as a whole.
8. Details of all donations over £500 that are found to be impermissible are reported to the Electoral Commission.
