Established as a voluntary group in 1996 and registered as a charity in 2005. Founder Trevor Weeks MBE has been undertaking wildlife rescue since 1985.
The charity has grown from a one-man-band to one of the biggest wildlife rescue charities in the South East of England. The charity operates 5 veterinary ambulances and has a hospital capable of holding over 300 casualties at a time. In 2022 WRAS dealt with over 5000 casualties.
From poorly pigeons to peregrine falcons, East Sussex WRAS treats them all with respect and as individuals. Around 700 hedgehogs are rescued every year by WRAS.
