Ealing Judo Club (EJC) - Needs New facilities: a dedicated DoJo in Ealing, London

Ealing Judo Club (EJC) Needs New facilities

The proper building will offer the club the potential for growth and the new facilities can then be linked to local educational institutions.

The club maintains a mission to offer judo to anyone who wishes to learn, regardless of age, gender, religion, ability, background. The aim is to integrate Judo with Life, offering transferable skills & experience to club members such as confidence, problem solving, team spirit and optimism.

The Ealing Judo Club (Facebook Page) exists for 13 years and it has formed many English and British National squad athletes. Our hero of the moment is Nekoda Davis who has won gold in the women's 57kg Judo event at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow 2014. Nekoda Davis is in the qualification zone for the Rio 2016 Olympics.

Jo Crowley is the Head coach for the Ealing Judo Club and she is the main mentor of the members the club has. Jo Crowley was nominated for British Judo Coach of the Year 2013. She has been having some very positive meetings with Eagling Council and with Sports development officers around the idea of building EJC a permanent facility very close to where the EJC is now based.

The Ealing Council has allocated money to create a dedicated space for the Ealing Judo Club with 3 revisions of architects plans already completed.

However the actual budget and the cost don't quite match so we are trying to raise about £75,000 from different sources with which to approach Sport England for further facilities funding. Combined, we should then have enough to realise the plans. If that all happens then we can look to move in at the end of 2016.

The Ealing Judo Club uses the West Acton Community Centre as its Dojo. Unfortunatly these days Commmunity Centres are under constant threat of closure. One more reason to get New Facilities to the club.
