Eadons Fields is a popular venue for motorcycle trials in Derbyshire. It is currently under threat of being sold and losing the land forever. Sheffield & Hallamshire Motorcycle Club is attempting to raise enough funds to buy the land and preserve it for future generations of riders.
Who are we:
Sheffield & Hallamshire Motorcycle Club is one of the oldest motor clubs in the UK, founded in 1904. We organise multiple motorcycle trials events throughout the year. Motorcycle trials is a slow form of off-road riding where riders have to navigate through natural obstacles without putting their feet down or stalling.
About the land:
Eadons Fields is the perfect trials land near Dronfield that has been used for motorcycle trials for nearly 70 years. It has everything a trials rider could wish for: rocks, streams, hills, mud and more. It's a perfect place to practice your skills, have fun with your friends and get muddy. But there's a problem. Eadons Fields is owned by a private landowner who has kindly allowed us to use it for many years. If the landowner sells to someone else, we could lose it forever. That would be a huge blow for the trials community and a sad loss of a historic venue.
Future Plans:
Over the years, the land has been neglected. It isn’t secure, it’s untidy and attracts anti-social behaviour. If we are able to purchase the land we plan to add secure perimeter fencing, tidy up and improve the off-road parking. To ensure we keep the noise levels down and that the land is taken care of, we will restrict access to members only and allow only trials bikes.
Progress So Far:
We have already received pledges of funds from many local riders, as well as substantial offers of a loans from East Midlands ACU and other local clubs. This combined with our own funds, we are almost there. But we still need more donations to be able to buy the land.
