I have a physical disability. With the existence of A.I., I am struggling to find a job that is not too labour intensive. One of these jobs is to become a mentor for people who have dyslexia. It is Work from home based and I will sit with dyslexic students on zoom and help them with their work.
Only, the rule has changed on who is qualified. My standard teaching qualification is not enough and I need a specific teaching qualification in dyslexia to be considered for the membership. The course costs just over £3000 but there is no funding for it.
Once I qualify, I can then work with disabled students.
About my current qualifications:
- BA Hons: Creative and Professional Writing
- Masters: Writing for Performance
- Teaching qualification: AFHEA
- PhD: Marginalisation and morality: a creative approach to women and pirates in the eighteenth century.
- This thesis looks at how women and pirates were marginalised in the 18th century, the morality of it and how this affects marginalised communities in the 21st century.
What would the money be used for?
Fund a £3100 course that would give me a teaching qualification with dyslexia speciality.
What will happen after the course?
- I will apply to DSA (disabled student allowance) approved companies to become a study skills mentor for students who are in university and have dyslexia.
- This job is work from home which would perfectly suit me.
