Dundee High Cricket Club, established in 1901, is an open and independent cricket club and a registered Scottish Charity (SC053242) located in Central Dundee, Scotland. The charitable purposes of the club are to advance public participation in sport by:
• Recruiting and developing children and young people as players, coaches, umpires, and administrators.
• Providing opportunities for participation, development, and performance across playing, coaching, and administration.
• Promoting equality of opportunity to encourage inclusion, particularly among minority groups.
• Creating a safe, effective, and child-friendly environment for learning and playing cricket.
Located in Dundee’s Maryfield Ward, and also active in the Coldside Ward, the club serves communities experiencing significant deprivation. Half of these communities live in SIMD Decile 1 or 2, representing the top 20% of deprived communities in Scotland, per SIMD 2020. Only 9.5% of children in these areas meet recommended physical activity levels, dropping to 7.9% for girls.
To address these challenges, since 2022 the club has partnered with several local schools, Active Schools Dundee, Maryfield Community Regeneration Forum and Caird Park Community Sports Hub to deliver whole community cricket sessions. In 2024 these efforts introduced cricket to 494 children via a program of school taster sessions, extracurricular activities, club based sessions and a summer camp, with further expansion expected in 2025.
The club is completely self funded therefore ongoing donor and sponsor donations are deeply appreciated to ensure continued delivery of high quality coaching, facilities and equipment in our local community.
