Dry December for men's mental health

Suicide is the leading cause of death for men under 50 in the UK, we need to do something about it.

What am I doing?

A dry (no alcohol) December, I thought January would be to simple to be worth sponsoring, nothing happens, it's a long way till payday and the country is in a bad mood. December however is different.

Why am I doing this?

I recently lost a friend to suicide and in the month or so that followed it became a much researched and discussed topic in my life, during this I learnt some very shocking figures and came to the realization that I should try to help in any way I can. If me giving up one Christmas and New Year means a family can spend many more together then its worth doing. 

The charity

ANDYSMANCLUB is a men’s suicide prevention charity, offering free-to-attend peer-to-peer support groups across the United Kingdom and online. They have groups up and down the country so have a look at their website to find one.

Why such an odd target?

My workplace matches any fundraising I do, this target would total the same amount raised by my friends funeral collection. More would be better but doubling the family's efforts would go a long way towards awareness, and more importantly prevention of suicide.
