Ten years and smiling
Based in the busy area of Gachie, Nairobi, Dominion Hope Academy was launched in 2012 and is transforming the lives of children within this community. Having started with just one teacher and two pupils, the school has grown significantly and is at the heart of the community.
In 2019 the school was officially registered and the development of a new building on a permanent site started. Amazingly, in spite of the Covid pandemic, the school re-opened after the lockdowns in its new location with building work complete. The excitement to be back together and in a new building was tangible, and seeing all those smiling faces is something to be treasured. The children at Dominion Hope Academy are happy, with opportunities to learn, be fed and explore additional experiences outside the classroom. The staff are local and hugely committed to the development of the children in their care.
Impacting young lives
Over the past decade, we have seen over 250 children attend school at Dominion Hope Academy and we have witnessed hope being planted in their young lives, helping them to know that they do matter and do have a future.
As a charity, we are so proud that the money that is sacrificially donated to help the most vulnerable children get an education in this community, is able to be entirely used for that purpose. Our latest fundraising campaign 'driving home for Christmas' will equally see all funds go to purchasing the school bus and enabling more children to safely attend school in Gachie.
Celebrating safety
A new, permanent school building is definitely something to celebrate but the children need to be transported to and from the school safely given the location of the site and the nature of the busy streets in Gachie.
Please join us in this ambitious campaign to purchase a school bus, providing safety and greater opportunity for the children to attend school and additional activities.
