Who are we?

A Community Club

The Club was formed in 1875 and has been based at several grounds over the years. Our present home is Hartsfield situated in Reeds Lane, Leasowe, Wirral.

We currently run 2 senior men's teams who both are competing for promotion this season, we also have a thriving junior rugby section with over 14 teams. We also host Liverpool Tritons Rugby Club & Greenleas Junior junior Football club who use our facilities on a weekly basis.

We need your help to save our beloved sports pitches! Our community thrives on sports, and our pitch is the heart of our activities. Unfortunately, it's in desperate need of proper drainage to ensure it remains playable year-round.

 The Problem:

Due to the increase in rainfall over the last few years our pitches have increasingly became waterlogged for longer, as you can see from our photos attached a quarter of our pitch number 3 has been under water since early October, this has had a knock on effect onto extra sessions and games on pitch 1 & 2 therefore making all pitches liable to being ‘called off’ with the slightest bit of rain. This winter we have had a total of over 60 Junior rugby games cancelled, over 70 junior rugby training sessions cancelled, Greenleas JFC have had 30 fixtures cancelled & we have had 10 senior rugby games cancelled due to the pitches being under. Due to this our pitches have become unusable for a significant portion of the year. This not only affects our regular games but has also had a huge effect on training sessions being cancelled, which again has a huge effect on our bar takings which is our main source of income in keeping the lights on at New Brighton Rugby Club.

BUT we are determined to fix this issue and bring our pitches back to life.

The Solution:

We have consulted with experts, and the solution is clear: installing proper drainage. This will not only extend the usability of the pitch but also prevent long-term damage, ensuring that future generations can enjoy it as much as we have.

Our Goal:

We're aiming to raise £20,000 to cover the costs of the drainage installation. This includes materials, labor, and any unforeseen expenses. Every contribution, no matter how small, brings us one step closer to achieving our goal.

Timeline:

We aim to start the drainage installation by the end of May 2024 and complete it in time for the new season which will be our 150th year as New Brighton Rugby Club. Regular updates will be provided to keep you informed about the progress.
