Gul works with people of all ages, the only requirement is they have a need that can be met with activities that take place using the outdoors.
A typical beneficiary is a young person aged 8-15 years old who struggles to attend school regularly due to a pre-existing condition such as Autism or a social trauma such family breakdown or abuse. They attend Gul once per week for structured therapeutic sessions with the aim of allowing them to return to their school fully.
In June 2023 our CEO Dr Grummitt returns to the home of our Highland ponies to raise valuable funds for their upkeep and care when at Gul, where the ponies are used as therapy ponies for vulnerable people. The ride itself is part of the Highland Pony Society Centenery Celebration Ride at Balmoral Castle on a riding route in the Scottish Highlands that is up to 20km long.
In 2022 our Gul ponies cost over £15000 to keep in good health, with food bills, Vet expenses, tack and equipment, it's not cheap to enable our pony heroes. So we need your help. Can you help us achieve our aims? Gul needs your help and every penny will enable us to look after our herd and in turn support more people struggling with their mental health.
