A few decades ago my husbands parents established an Academy Secondary School in Umenede Nigeria. The school is government registered and has gone on to see many graduates to become professionally qualified persons working in various sectors both in Nigeria and abroad . The proprietor Mr Sunday Chidi has a vision to expand the Academy to add nursery schooling and also a crèche for working mothers.
But sadly, now the school facilities are in great need of repair, upgrading and safety issues need correcting.
The proprietor and his wife, along with many dedicated teachers have served for a long time in the school and still do.
My husband and I don’t want to see this important part of the community to disappear in the future but want to see the school go on to graduate young adults to move on to a better life and help realise Mr Sunday Chidi vision. In addition my husband has a vision for his own project; to add a sports facility and football academy near the school , to help realise young talented individuals for world class football and other sports. To help young talent boys and girls dreams come true! ( see other project)
My husband and I live in the UK but he has family roots in Umenede, so we visit the school regularly .I am an English woman who wants to help my husband to take the school progressively into the future with adding updated computer systems and current technologies and teaching subjects.Indeed my own vision is to incorporate the arts and supply a theatre space for the students. ( see other project)
But first things first, the facilities are in dire need of renovation and upgrading to a pleasant and safe environment to inspire children and teachers to do their best. And inspire hope!
But we are not rich and would welcome donations for the upgrading project to put with our own funds together we can improve young lives both now and in the future
