My Vision for the Neurodiverse young adult community.
I want to open a tea/coffee room. We will sell cake, crystals, meditation tools and incense and local crafts. it will be a calming and meditative environment. This will be open every day of the week.
In the evening, we will hold classes/workshops within the theme of the shop. Reiki heeling, Meditation, Tarot etc.
We are looking for charitable status because we are looking to work with the neurodiverse young adult community.
The charity will give young adults aged between 17 and 27, who live with neurodiversity, such as Autism, ADHD, Learning Disabilities etc, the ability to gain real world work experience. Thus being given the opportunity to have a reference for future opportunities. To learn the working skills and to be able to find coping mechanisms in a safe environment. This will involve the ability to seek support and advice without the need of a 1-1 job coach. In time it will offer training courses like food hygiene and health and safety, to give them certificates for their work portfolio and C.V.
Skills to learn
These young adults (YA) will be given the opportunity to bake cookies, cake etc to sell. Wait tables, clean their environment. Communicate with customers/strangers. Learn punctuality and professionalism.
What qualifies me to do this venture
I currently work in the special needs department at at a local college and will offer this out to the students there as well as the community. This is because currently they have minimal access to real work experience and this is a hole in their lives. They struggle to find work but so many want to work. This will give them a safe and calming environment .
