0Restoration: Preserving History, Building the Future
St. Mary’s, with its rich history dating back to 1524, is not just a place of worship but a cherished heritage of our community. To safeguard its ancient structure, we've launched the St. Mary’s 500 Restoration Appeal. Our goal is to raise £250,000 for this work, beginning with urgent restoration on the Tower and West end elevations estimated at £200,000. Phase 2 will focus on the remainder of the structure.
Sustainability: Securing Our Legacy
While St. Mary’s has been sustained by the dedication of its church family, the financial burden is substantial. With annual expenses of approximately £100,000 (£2,000 a week!), we face the challenge of ensuring long-term sustainability. Our efforts extend beyond upkeep; they ensure St. Mary’s remains a vibrant hub of community life for generations.
