The Interpreting Collective Co-operative Consortium Ltd needs a digital platform to showcase its members, who are professional interpreters and translators. We call ourselves Language Service Practitioners (LSPs).
LSPs provide interpreting (spoken language) and translating (written language) services directly to diverse minority communities with limited English, who need language assistance in accessing public services such as healthcare, social services, education, housing and legal settings such as police and courts.
The platform will allow all users to request, book and confirm interpreting and translation services via the platform in a way that is innovative, viable, affordable and benefits all users. Examples of our sister cooperatives are Signalise (Sign.Co the previous name and they are British Sign Language Interpreters' Coop) and Equal Care Coop.
Our aims are to ensure “community wealth building”, meaning profits stay within the Cooperative and are reinvested to provide better services, consistent access to high quality interpreting and translation services for users from diverse and minority backgrounds.
Our research shows that high standard interpreting services are needed to provide speakers of all languages to equally access public services within the UK.
We ask project owners to honour their rewards wherever possible but please note that all pledges are donations and there is no guarantee that you will receive any rewards from the project owner. Please see our Terms of Use for more information regarding rewards for pledges.
