Hindu Temple Geeta Bhawan, provides free lunch to Senior Citizens, Teach Hindi, Malayalam Languages, yoga classes and Indian classical Dances. Provide Hindu Religious services, place of worship, cultural activities, Inter faith dialogue, discourses on Vedas and other scriptures. Conduct Civil Marriages, Marriages according to Vedic Rituals and provide priests for Hindu rituals.

Who are we?

Objectives:  To promote the Hindu religion for the benefit of Hindus and wider community in Derby, by organising and providing the following:

  • To establish and maintain a place of worship and a community centre building in Derby. Part of the building is used for conducting Hindu religious functions and performing Hindu religious rituals. The other part is used as a meeting place for Hindus and the wider public for recreational, social, and cultural activities within the society.
  • Organising cultural and community events engaged in a range of social, cultural, and religious activities to encourage and support people of the Hindu faith in their devotion to the Hindu religion and anyone who would like to express Hinduism. Our goal is to bring a closer relation to the wider community.
  • To provide services of a Hindu priest.
  • To provide advice and services for: Birth, Death or Marriage. We are licensed to hold civil wedding as well as religious weddings. We also don’t accept payment in relation to a bereavement.
  • To organise educational activities such as, learning Hinduism and the Hindi Language. By offering language classes to the Hindu Community and wider public. Our classes are open to adults and children. We are also looking to expand further educational activities.
  • To provide free meals for senior citizens and anyone who requires a meal.
  • To provide facilities of social care within the Hindu and wider community.
  • To provide wellbeing and fitness classes such as Dance or Yoga.
  • To empower youth to support the community on a voluntary basis.

Community impact

Our Temple is open for all, we provide free hot food, a warm, open and safe place and religious and cultural events. 

Why are we crowdfunding?

We are always in need of donations, donations contribute with building maintenance , providing food for the community and day to day running of the temple which is managed by volunteers.
