Derby Community Parent Programme (DCPP) has been training volunteers to provide up to date, evidence based peer support for over 4 years now... the team at Derby Community Parent Programme are now working towards taking our service forward as a community owned initiative that builds on the existing excellent reputation & relationships of the programme. Our dedicated volunteers are committed to the continued delivery of free, safe & effective peer support to expectant & new parents across Derby - via 1-1, community & support at the Royal Derby Hospital.
Our volunteers are dedicated and passionate, undergoing 26 weeks training in their own time, often whilst juggling work & families themselves. It is little wonder they won the NHS Unsung Hero Award for Volunteers in 2020!! You may have also seen their hard work featured in ITV's documentary Becoming Mum with Sheridan Smith - if you haven't seen it, its definitely worth a watch :)
Becoming a parent can bring a mix of emotions and adding a pandemic into the mix means that our services are needed now more than ever. Earlier this year, the business that we sat within changed its path and perinatal peer support within Derby was at risk. The hard work & dedication of DCPP volunteers has meant that we are able to explore ways to continue the delivery of this vital support - however we need your help.
We are asking for your support to help us reach as many families as possible - your donations will go towards volunteer DBS checks & expenses, use of technology to connect with parents and coffee mornings (as soon as its safe to do so). Crucially, it will also allow us to continue to deliver training to volunteers, as a result the programme can provide essential support to more parents!
