Dentaid works to reduce oral pain around the world through treatment, training, equipment donations and education in the United Kingdom and in more than 70 other countries by running oral health education programmes and volunteering experiences. Since 2015 Dentaid also provides emergency dentistry in the UK for those who cannot access an NHS dentist.

1Vision for 2022
In 2021, Dentaid operated 174 UK clinics, treating over 1500 patients. Our vision for 2022 is to operate 300 UK clinics, therefore nearly doubling our patient numbers. We also have ambitious plans to re-design our charity premises in Southampton to install a modern, fully equipped, static charity dental surgery. These plans will cost £100,000 and we aim to have the surgery completed by autumn 2022.
We also will continuing to provide oral health and outreach support to the international communities we serve, even during these difficult times, with the constraints and many restrictions enforced by the Covid-19 pandemic.
UK focus
In the UK, Dentaid provides free dental care for homeless and vulnerable people via our three mobile dental units and dental trailer.
Our mobile dental units visit hostels, day centres and night shelters providing emergency treatment for people who find it difficult to access dental care. We also provide dental care in areas where people are struggling to find a dentist and run clinics for refugees and asylum seekers, head and neck cancer patients, veterans, children in areas of social deprivation and victims of domestic violence.
Dentaid's oral health education programme, BrightBites, is run in schools across the UK and we continue to reach out to more schools to improve children's oral health.
International focus
Overseas, Dentaid has worked in more than 70 countries providing safe, sustainable dental treatment in poor and remote communities. We support dentists around the world by providing equipment, running oral health programmes and sending teams of volunteer dental professionals to help them reach more patients.
DentaidBoxes are a fully portable dental surgery that can be used to provide care anywhere in the world. Essentially a converted wheelie bin, the DentaidBox is a simple, effective, yet robust and comprehensive solution to providing remote dentistry. Each DentaidBox costs £2,500 to ship from the UK, utilising donated and refurbed / recycled equipment from our incredible UK supporter base.
