I met my British husband in Frankfurt aM Germany, we married there and when his work contract ended we moved with 2 small children to England December 1974. Ever since we have lived in the same place and house. We both worked here and payed our taxes etc. Our sons, having my German citizenship, live and work in Germany with their families. I understand that they will not be able to return to this country, if they so wish, were they were brought up and educated to live here again, work or help us in our old age. We are both in our eighties.

There are too many instances where access to the online proof information will fail and will have devastating consequences for individuals and families. It will also increase the effort for banks, employers, landlords to verify and therefore, in the event that there is a choice between two candidates/tenants , the path of least resistance will be taken and individuals with settled status will always be second in line. This government’s track record in IT systems isn’t great. This is just not good enough.

My 74 year old husband will be completely stymied by the digi ID. I am delighted to have support in helping him use another route to show his right to remain after 36 years of living here

Married for 54 years in this country with a german passport, I feel now insecure and touched by the plight of many younger Europeans in this situation with the leaving of the EU. We wish you success.

My wife is from the Netherlands, and has given up everything to settle her life with me in the UK before the Brexit timeline. She along with all other EU residences, should not be pawns nor overlooked because of some decision which were no fault of theirs as with other British residences in other EU countries. The government must be honest and supportive to protecting the rights for all EU nationals who have legally resided in the UK. These are people lives, and it can have a huge impact on their families if their rights and situations aren't supportive.
