About Dementia Hwb Swansea

Opened in January 2022, The Dementia Hwb in Swansea is a unique information centre located at the site of the former Thornton’s shop in The Quadrant in Swansea. Initially opening for a six week trial, the service is being supported by Dementia Friendly Swansea together with Alzheimer’s Society Cymru, Age Cymru West Glamorgan and other local organisations. The trial was funded by the Swansea Council Winter of Wellbeing 50+ grant.

After the Pilot

There were 200+ visits in the 6 week pilot with good feedback from visitors, showing that the service was needed. To secure the future of the Hwb, further funding was needed. The Dementia Hwb is now supported by the West Glamorgan Regional Integration Fund. Securing these funds have enabled the Hwb to reach more people, especially those who cannot get into the City Centre. In June 2022 Dementia Friendly Swansea registered as a charity – Charity Number 1199456.
