Basingstoke was the first place I called home. Our town has so much potential, but it is being held back by 13 years of Tory failure.
I’ve seen how Basingstoke has changed over the years: foodbanks, boarded up shops and sky-high energy bills are sadly increasingly commonplace.
There are fewer schools in Basingstoke than when I was a child, and public services are over-subscribed due to under-investment, poor management and population growth.
There is a lot to do, and we need a fresh start. The last Labour government invested in this town, with a new shopping centre, museum and leisure facilities. My priorities will be to boost our town’s infrastructure, secure more resources for the NHS and support local businesses to stabilise the economy.
Together, we can make Basingstoke an amazing place to live, work and raise a family.
Labour has never won in Basingstoke. My first priority is to listen to households across the town and get a sense of what your priorities are.
From my conversations on the doorstep, I know that many people are frustrated with the current Government and feel that the Conservatives take them for granted in Basingstoke.
It’s up to Labour to win the trust of households in Basingstoke and demonstrate that we can deliver real change.
