Aim: To support amazing local charities who provide support to residents in Broadwater Farm and Northumberland Park

I'm petrified of heights. My palms are sweating and my heart racing just writing this. So abseiling off a 19 story building feels like a strange thing to do, but I've committed to it now so no turning back!

I've been working to support communities in Tottenham for the past 20 years through my work at Haringey Council. Much of this work has been in Broadwater Farm and more recently in Northumberland Park. Of the many brilliant things about these places, one of the best is the people and organisations who work alongside the council to support the residents who live there. Often they deliver huge amounts on a shoestring, with a band of volunteers who are committed to their local area and the people who live here.

What has struck me most is how a small amount of money can go a long way to making a difference to people's lives. And while there are grants and pots to pitch for, this money is becoming increasingly hard to find hence the idea for this project - to get as many people as possible to carefully lower themselves off a very tall building, all for a good cause.

A large team of us will be taking on this on this challenge on June 21st. Please give generously - the money will go a long way and will go direct to four great causes across Tottenham.

The causes include:

The Moselle Community Project - an incredible hot food kitchen on Broadwater Farm that brings together 60-70 people every week. Run by volunteers, it embodies everything we do.

Haringey Adventure Playground - I dare anyone to spend 5 minutes with the team at this place and not leave inspired. Providing an essential resource for over 600 families on Northumberland Park all through play.

Raza Street Gym - head up to Kenneth Robins House on Northumberland Park and you'll see the street gym. A brilliant local resource, keeping kids active and engaged in positive activities.

Project 2020 - a scheme close to my heart as I was involved in setting this up in 2011 after the Tottenham riots and it's been so successful it's outlived it's name.
