Who are we?
After bringing short mat bowls into the school I teach and now having 30 children each week accessing this, I want to develop to creating an lawn bowls youth programme that is accessible to all 11-18 to get into the sport and develop their talents. Through the work done within school it has enabled school refusers and students who would often not have any sporting interest to be included and I want to push this further so that the North can start to catch up with the recruitment and development of young bowlers like what is seen in the South.
Why are we crowdfunding?
I have secured a location for this programme to be run, but I need extra funds to allow extra equipment to be bought and to subsidise if the young people need transport to events allowing their growth to improve.
How we’ll spend the money raised
Go towards equipment, training materials, kit, subsidise for transport to external competitions.
Community impact
Bowls is inclusive of all and building a structured programme will help develop our youth and keep them in the sport and progressing to the higher levels. The impact on the community would be seen as perceptions of the youth can be negative and giving an opportunity for a lot of stigmas to be quashed.
How you can play your part
There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!
2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!
4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
