Who are we?

Moelfre Rowing Club which was established in 2005 . The Club was set up to give local people of all ages the opportunity to participate in water based activities, encouraging healthy lifestyles.

Why are we crowdfunding?

As a club we have grown in membership over the past 5 years and welcome rowers of all ages and abilities to row during multiple weekly sessions.  We are fortunate to have a double scull which is hugely popular and are now seeking funding to purchase an additional single sculls to enable more members to enjoy the sport. A single scull will help develop individual sculling technique and allow competitive rowing in league races. 

How we’ll spend the money raised

We have sought competitive prices for the scull and oars and as a committee have agreed on the specification and proposed longetivity of the kit- to ensure best value for money. This includes a scull which is capabale of handling ocean and lake rowing  benefitting a range of trianing and racing needs)  with components and parts on the boat structure which can be replaced and upgraded if any damage occurs. 

Community impact

More choice of rowing boats attracts a range of rowers! Were aiming for more new rowers to join our club who are keen to develop a new hobby and improve their sculling technique - with the aim for a greater number of entries in competitive league races and a proposed progression route to national level more competitive rowing. Our rowing club has a range of partner rowing clubs across Wales and we hope to strengthen these partnerships by sharing resources, allowing visiting rowers to share knowledge and skills.

How you can play your part

There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.

1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!

2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.

3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!

4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
